0.4. Electrodes and Their Placement in the CleverPoint Setup

10–20 system (standard EEG electrode placement)

  • Variant 1: Reference electrode at Fz. Unipolar connection.
  • Variant 2: For scientific use. Common split reference on the right and left ears. Unipolar connection.

Electrode positions:

  • F7, F8: Lateral frontal areas
  • AF3: Left anterior frontal area, between Fp1 and F3 (left hemisphere)
  • AF4: Right anterior frontal area, between Fp2 and F4 (right hemisphere)
  • L Zygoma, R Zygoma: Cheek muscles (facial muscles, for EMG)

What each electrode records:

  • Each electrode records the activity of the cortical area beneath it.
  • Different brain areas are responsible for different functions.
  • Comparing activity between electrodes shows interactions between brain regions.
